Our Equipment
Our Equipment
The Pilates apparatus in our studio is a mix of the finest brands of Authentic Pilates Equipment. Most of our equipment is Gratz, the only brand ever used by Joe Pilates. We also have beautiful equipment from Pilates Scandinavia, Pilates Designs, and Tirado Pilates. Joe Pilates was known for giving the Mat work as homework for his clients. His focus in the studio was on the use of the apparatus to aid in proper alignment and movement patterns. The springs on the apparatus provide feedback that both challenge and assist, providing resistance and support to the body in all exercises.
As important as offering the traditional teaching of Joseph Pilates is the ability to offer the traditional mats and apparatus. Pilates mats are not the thin, rubbery mats commonly used for yoga: they are raised five inches from the ground, are eight feet long, twenty-four inches wide, and are cushioned and upholstered. Pilates mats also have two wooden handles on one end and a strap under which you can put your feet at the other.
Precision Pilates is the only studio east of Montreal and one of less than ten studios in Canada to have Gratz equipment. Gratz is the company that makes Pilates apparatus using the exact blueprints that Joseph Pilates used for his original equipment
The large, whole-body focused apparatus are the Universal Reformer, Cadillac, Electric Chair, Wunda Chair, Arm Chair, Ladder Barrel, Spine Corrector, Low Barrel, and Pedi Pole. We have multiple of each of these apparatus so that each client may experience them in their group sessions and private lessons.
The smaller pieces of equipment are used to help your body achieve better form in many exercises and include: magic circles, toe correctors, the foot corrector, neck stretcher breath-a-cizer, sandbags, hand weights, and push up handles. Here at Precision Pilates we also have several of the original TensatonerTM designed by Brooke Siler.
